What to Expect
Scheduling: At the time you call to schedule your appointment we will discuss the locations, number of people, and any type images you have in mind. Please notify us as soon as you can with any conflicts you may run into. At this time we will also set an appointment to view your pictures. Typically this can be done up to three days after your photo shoot.
Children: Make sure small children have had their nap on the day of the shoot. The happier your little one is the smoother the session will go. Our policy with everyone is to capture natural expressions. We always make sure to give the child breathing room to express themselves without everyone saying, “smile”. If you have a child who is very timid with getting their picture taken, let us know at the time of scheduling so we can accommodate for that. Our goal is to make sure your children have a comfortable and fun experience with us.
Clothing: Please bring a variety of outfits that fit you well. Avoid clothing with words, logos, stripes and loud patterns as they distract from your expression. Dress from head to toe; many poses will include your feet. Bring accessories; jewelry, hats, belts, and scarves. Also, make sure your undergarments (unwanted straps, etc.) are not showing. If families or children are being photographed together, clothing similar in style and color are best for a nice look. Look for a classic style. Discuss with everyone participating in the image making sure you all agree on the chosen outfits. Families are encouraged to bring a variety of outfits. For a more natural look with newborns bare skin is preferred.
Grooming: Style your hair the way you like it best. Plan on different styles; girls plan on updo’s. No hair accessories will be available. If you plan on getting a hair cut before the shoot please have it done no later than three days before the shoot, in case you don’t care for the results. Make sure your nails are taken care of even the toes. The smallest detail shows through. We recommend that you wear your make-up no heavier than you would for an evening out. Even if you don't normally wear make-up, we recommend a light application of eye liner, light foundation and powder to reduce shine and even your skin tone. (Powder is great for guys, too, and no one can tell you're wearing make-up, we promise!)
Glasses: Speak to your optometrist about borrowing an empty pair of frames that match the frames you own. The lenses often cause glare and distortion. If they cannot lend you frames, they may be able to temporarily remove the lenses from your pair. Due to the extreme editing required there will be a $25 per person to fix any glass glare on an image.
Props: Bring in everything that represents you. Posters, uniforms, awards, collections, cars, instruments, sports equipment, hats, your own art work, etc.
Pets: Let us know in advance if you're bringing in your pet and please bring along a friend or parent to care for the pet as you will be very busy during the session. If possible, the pet should remain in a carrier when it's not in the shoot.
Viewing: The same day as your sitting, we will confirm your follow up session. At this second appointment, your images will be presented in slide show form. This process typically takes from one hour to an hour and a half. Please schedule the appointment at a time of convenience for anyone and everyone who will be significant during your purchase decisions, as you will be placing your order during this appointment. Although small children are welcome at this viewing, you may find it to your advantage to make other arrangements for them during this appointment.
